Production and sales will be realized during 9 months per year when demand is high, this is especially during the seasons when there is less rain.

Benefits of Mushrooms

Mushroom farming is socially accepted in the family and community as mushrooms are one of the healthy foods eaten by almost everyone in Zambia and since they are not in season all the time, supplying them to the market all year round is very acceptable. Additionally, mushroom is a very healthy food and recommended especially for people with health challenges including non-communicable diseases such as heart conditions, diabetes, and others.

Moreover, mushroom farming is an environmentally friendly business as it does not cause any harm to the environment. It utilizes compost manure (substrate) meaning that no artificial fertilizers will be used and after harvesting, this manure can be used in vegetable gardens or in growing other crops.
