After the knowledge gained from some exposure to mushroom farming in the Netherlands, I wanted to learn more and understand it from the Zambian perspective. In July and August 2023, I conducted research titled ‘’Feasibility of mushroom farming as a livelihood strategy for female small-scale farmers in Katete, Zambia.’’
Doing this research provided me with further insights concerning the feasibility of this venture in Zambia and one of the conclusions of the research was that the mushroom business is profitable as the market is readily available since mushrooms are widely known and consumed by many Zambians. There is a huge potential of this sector and the few who are doing it are on a small-scale level.
